The views of an object.

To draw the different views of an object, is must be drawn as seen from different sides so that only one side of the object is seen at a time. Three points of view are usually chosen:

• The front view.
• The side view: from the left side of the object.
• The top view: from above (bird’s eye view).

The goal of drawing the views of an object is to represent it precisely and in an easy way. Drawing any object correctly in perspective is much more complicated than drawing its views.

Sometimes it is necessary to use more than three views to accurately represent an object. This happens for example when the piece has certain details on the back that can not be appreciated from any other side. In that case, it is necessary to draw more than three views, but it is not common.

Now, we will see how the views of a simple object are drawn. The color code that we will use is:

• Front view: red.
• Side view: green.
• Top view: blue.

It is very important to place the views in the correct position and with the appropriate orientation. The orientation of the top view is the one that usually causes the most problems. This should be drawn as if, facing the figure from the front view, it falls down towards us, as you can see in the gif (any other orientation is not correct!).
